The Modern Antique

There is an old photo album that has pictures of our family dating back to at least the early 1900s. Photos of my great grandparents when they were young. A few tin types and lots of paper photographs. I knew two of my great grandparents when I was young, and it has always fascinated me that they were born so close to the 1800’s. The photos in the album tell a story of the past and it tells a story of our family. The old black and white photos of my family fascinate me.

Enter in this snowy cold weekend of October 2020 in Billings, Montana. It’s cold outside, and I wanted a project that was indoors. The old photographs from my family have been on my mind lately, and I really wanted to create my own kids in the black and white of the past. Thankfully my kids are (mostly) willing subjects that will stop what they are doing to be photographed. Here is the finished product of my Modern Antique.

Do you have favorite family photographs or an album that you love to look at of years gone by? Do you love black and white or color? I’d love to hear about it! Tell me in the comments below.
